is there a way to create a toggle-control - so you could switch a parameter permantly on/off ?

Yes, just make a slider and set min value to 0 and max value to 1 so it will have 2 positions.
Also you can update it remotely like you update a level indicator, so after connecting, your remote device can update the slider to reflect the actual state of the parameter.
